Angelina Jolie did not beg Brad Pitt for a "second chance," despite a report claiming that exactly one year ago today. At the time, Gossip Cop confirmed it was completely made-up, and now a year later, it's clear the story remains 100 percent untrue. In fact, far from getting back together, they battled over the past 12 months, so that they could hammer out a child custody agreement a few weeks ago.

On December 5, 2017, the frequently inaccurate website Celebrity Insider maintained Jolie wanted to "save their failed marriage." Using a previously debunked Life & Style story for much of its material, the blog alleged the actress felt she made a "mistake" filing for divorce from Pitt in September 2016, and that she missed him and was "heartbroken" without him. But, as opposed to the outlet's assertion that she wanted to "reconcile," in court filings in August, Jolie expressed she wanted her divorce from Pitt finalized by the end of 2018.

Additionally, while Jolie and Pitt recently reached a child custody agreement, they are still fighting over the division of their assets and property. And never has she voiced a desire to halt the proceedings or pleaded with her estranged husband for a "second chance." It's simply a phony narrative that's been cooked up by blogs and tabloids. Conversely, as Gossip Cop has stated from the beginning (with the guidance from both their camps), neither Jolie nor Pitt has wavered from wanting to go through with their divorce.

The claim that Jolie has been in tears and feels it was a mistake to divorce Pitt was phony 365 days ago, and it still is today. And in the year since the site first ran that falsehood, its reporting hasn't gotten any better or more accurate about Pitt and Jolie. Just a month after the tall tale about Jolie wanting a "second chance," it switched gears and contended Pitt's "greatest love" was ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, and they were "giving their romance a second shot."

It's also interesting how Celebrity Insider was certain in December 2017 the Oscar-winner wanted to get back with Pitt, yet eight months earlier in April it published an untruthful story about Jolie having a British boyfriend and adopting another baby with that (nonexistent) mystery man. Suffice to say, the website is not an entirely reliable source of information about Jolie and Pitt. And it's precisely because of false reports like that why Gossip Cop occasionally looks back at an article from the previous year to show readers how other outlets sometimes posts fiction, while we seek facts.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
