Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are not “heading to court next month” over their custody agreement. New reports claim the estranged spouses are “close” to finalizing their divorce, but it’s untrue. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust the stories.

The allegations originate with Life & Style, which has no business reporting on this subject at all given the amount of falsehoods it has previously spread. A year ago, in January 2017, we called out a cover story that attempted to dupe readers into thinking Jolie was going to “hand over” their six children after Pitt supposedly won custody. Six months later, in July 2017, there was an equally bogus cover story claiming the actor was asking for full custody. And just last month, the tabloid was wrong when it alleged Pitt offered Jolie a $100 million settlement that she rejected.

So with that in mind, the gossip magazine has virtually no credibility now when it maintains in its latest issue that “the end is finally near.” A so-called “source” asserts Pitt and Jolie are “on speaking terms again,” and because “they’re in a better place than they have been in a long time,” they “should be settling their divorce and custody agreement by sometime in February.” The outlet contends the exes have “found some middle ground,” with its supposed snitch adding, “Brad and Angelina are near an amicable agreement on the kids.”

But if the perennially inaccurate publication was actually knowledgeable, it would’ve known that Pitt and Jolie have been talking again since last March. They’re not all of a sudden “on speaking terms,” which seems to be the basis for claiming that they are “close” to finalizing the divorce. The magazine is even saying on its website that Pitt “snagged a victory” in the “custody dispute,” even though it’s not explained what the “victory” supposedly is.

And Celebrity Insider actually picked up the tabloid’s report and took it even further with a headline declaring, “Brad Pitt Is Heading To Court Next Month For Custody Agreement With Angelina Jolie.” To be clear, the original story said nothing about actually going to court. But the blog claims, “Mr. Pitt and the mother of his children will be in court in February.” It’s further alleged that he and Jolie have “reached a custody agreement.” Ironically, the website ends its piece by asserting, “Fans are hoping the pair will work things out away from the media.”

That’s actually the former couple’s intention. But the gossip media continually tries to keep the situation in the spotlight by peddling untruthful stories. That’s what’s going on here. While Jolie and Pitt do plan on settling their divorce eventually, Gossip Cop is exclusively told they currently “remain in a holding pattern.” Nothing significant has changed. And when progress is made, it won’t be Life & Style and Celebrity Insider breaking the news.
