Angelina Jolie revealed in the July issue of Vanity Fair that she developed Bell's palsy shortly after her split from Brad Pitt. The actress has since recovered from the condition, which causes one half of the face to droop, but a new tabloid report claims she's worried the ailment will end her career. Gossip Cop looked into the situation, and we can exclusively set the record straight.

The latest issue of the National Enquirer says Jolie is suffering a "new health crisis" and purports to have "learned" all about it. Only, the tabloid "learned" about the condition from Jolie herself when she revealed it in her Vanity Fair cover story nearly two months ago. There's also nothing "new" about the affliction, as she recuperated from the viral infection last year.

Still, the magazine quotes a supposed "source" as saying, "Angie's terrified this could end her career... [It's] the last thing in the world that Angelina wanted after she was buried in the press and painted as the bad guy after she split from Brad." The outlet's dubious insider adds, "She built her empire on playing a gorgeous leading lady, and as brutal as it is, those roles will dry up if her beautiful face is changed in any way."

Although Jolie's face was temporarily paralyzed due to the disorder, it's now completely back to normal. Not only is the Enquirer trying to sell an old story as a new scoop, but it's completely sensationalizing the situation as well. And its "source" seemingly is made-up and within a span of a few words unnaturally referred to Jolie as both "Angelina" and "Angie." Regardless, Gossip Cop checked in with a mutual pal of ours and the actress, who exclusively assures us she's now in good health and never feared her previous woes would ruin her acting career.

Unfortunately, the Enquirer has a habit of publishing bogus stories about the actress's health. Gossip Cop recently called out the publication for falsely claiming Jolie needed leg veins removed because they could lead to blood clots. Prior to that nonsense, we busted the magazine's phony cover story alleging Jolie only weighed 78 pounds and was on the brink of death. This latest article about the movie star's well-being is equally phony.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
