Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are not "back together again," despite a new tabloid cover story falsely announcing the estranged spouses are now "secretly dating each other." Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this fake news.
The untrue claims come from Life & Style, which wrongly declares in a headline featured inside its new issue, "Brad & Angie Secretly Back Together." The tabloid asserts, "It's the rebirth of Brangelina! Eight months after their messy split, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie get close again." So, how close are they really?
Well, a so-called "friend" is quoted as telling the gossip magazine, "They've been seeing each other several times a week lately. Slowly the old feelings have started to return... It's like they're now dating again." The couple's alleged reunion supposedly followed a tearful hour-long phone call, in which a "source" for the outlet contends Pitt gave a "heartfelt apology" to Jolie for how his drinking affected their family.
As proof of a reconciliation, the publication points to Pitt's GQ interview, in which he spoke about his shortcomings and encouraged the reporter to see Jolie's latest film. Of course, the actor never said anything about getting back together. Nonetheless, the tabloid maintains he's "getting ready to take the reunion public." Yet the magazine doesn't say when or how that will happen. Rather, it quotes the aforementioned pal, who conveniently claims the pair is "keeping the reinvigorated relationship under the radar for now" so as not to "confuse" their children.
But if Pitt and Jolie were spending as much time together as the outlet claims, surely the kids would realize something's up with mommy and daddy. Well, Gossip Cop can confirm one thing has changed: Pitt and Jolie are getting along better these days, compared to the immediate aftermath of their breakup. That said, however, there is no rekindled romance.
A source close to Pitt exclusively tells Gossip Cop that while things are "reasonably well" right now, it's not true he's "dating" his estranged wife. A Jolie insider echoes that there's no marital reunion at this point in time. It seems Life & Style is still peddling an alternate reality, and offering up fake news instead of the truth.
Last November, for example, the tabloid falsely claimed Jolie was seeking sole custody out of fear the kids would end up in foster care. And in a misleading January cover story, the magazine asserted Jolie had to "hand over" the children to Pitt, wrongly implying he won custody from her. Virtually every step of the way, the publication's tales haven't matched what's actually going on with the former couple. Frankly, we don't expect the outlet's future stories to, either.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
