In the fantasy world created by the tabloids, Angelina Jolie has adopted a lot of children over the past few years. In reality, she hasn't adopted any, but Gossip Cop has debunked several variations on this theme. Here are five wrong rumors.
Gossip Cop busted OK! last November for falsely claiming Jolie was adopting a little boy from Syria. The magazine said the actress had broken the supposed news to her six kids, but was keeping it a secret from Brad Pitt. The phony story seemed to have been written simply because the actress had visited children at a Syrian refugee camp earlier in the year. A Jolie confidante assured us she had no plans to adopt a child from the country, but would continue her humanitarian work to combat the refugee crisis.
Gossip Cop called out Life & Style in March of last year for wrongly reporting that Jolie would be adopting a baby with her so-called "new husband," who was said to be a wealthy British philanthropist. The tabloid maintained that the actress and her "husband" were looking for an Ethiopian boy between the age of eight and 10 because he'd be able to "hold his own" with the rest of her children. The first major issue with the outlet's story is that Jolie never married a British philanthropist. A source close to the actress assured us at the time that she wasn't interested in dating and was entirely focused on work and her kids. That remains the case. She never planned to adopt a baby with her imaginary husband.
In May 2017, Gossip Cop debunked a RadarOnline story about Jolie adopting more kids without Pitt. The bogus story was written simply because the actress was spotted with a group of children at Disneyland. In reality, Jolie had taken her daughter Shiloh to celebrate her 11th birthday at the theme park, where they were joined by several of the young girl's friends from Cambodia, including some of the child actors who appeared in Jolie's movie First They Killed My Father. The actress hadn't adopted any of the children that attended Shiloh's birthday festivities.
In April 2017, Gossip Cop corrected a Celebrity Insider story about Jolie adopting a baby with her (nonexistent) "British boyfriend." As noted above, the actress hasn't dated anyone since her divorce from Pitt. Reputable outlets such as People and E! News have since confirmed that Jolie "isn't dating anyone and won't be for a very long time." The actress never adopted a child with a boyfriend she never had.
And finally, when Jolie and Pitt were still together back in July 2016, Gossip Cop busted OK! for wrongly reporting they were adopting another child from Africa. The magazine said the then-couple planned to take in a child who was 10 or older to raise awareness for older orphans who are overlooked. The story was based on claims from an anonymous "source," but Pitt's rep told us at the time that he and Jolie weren't adopting a seventh child. Time has proven that to be the case.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
