Does Angelina Jolie feel "resentment" towards Brad Pitt for putting her "career aside" for him? That's the claim coming from a site that has been repeatedly caught manufacturing reports about the two stars and posting a series of contradictory articles about how much Jolie "misses" Pitt amid their divorce. Gossip Cop investigated, and we're assured this new tale is similarly fabricated and untrue.
The bogus report about Jolie's residual "resentment" directed at her estranged husband comes from HollywoodLife, an outlet so known for publishing fiction that it's routinely referred to as HollywoodLies. According to the serial fibbers at that blog, as Pitt and Jolie hash out their divorce, she's "struggling" to release her "resentment," though she's ultimately looking to be at peace and move on from their marriage.
Naturally, HollywoodLies hides behind an unnamed, untraceable, and possibly concocted "source" who alleges that Jolie wants her fair share of the couple's marital assets, especially because she "put her career aside so that Brad could follow projects that he was passionate about." Actually, during the 11 years they were together before announcing their split, Jolie made a slew of films, including a few passion projects of her own.
During happier times, Jolie worked steadily, having starred in or lent her voice to, among other movies, The Good Shepherd, A Mighty Heart, Beowulf, Kung Fu Panda and its two sequels, Changeling, Wanted, Salt, The Tourist, Maleficent, and By The Sea, which she wrote, directed, and acted in with Pitt. She also helmed Unbroken, and wrote and directed In The Land Of Blood And Honey and First They Killed My Father, which were deeply personal films she shot while Pitt supported her.
Obviously, the contention about Jolie putting her "career aside" is wrong. It bears mentioning that HollywoodLies is not known for its fact-checking. What it does have a reputation for, however, is peppering its articles with seemingly phony quotations from anonymous and unaccountable "sources" and also contradicting its previously published stories.
It's rather odd how the often discredited blog now maintains the Oscar-winning actress has "resentment" towards Pitt when just months ago it churned out one (fabricated) story after another about how much she "misses" him. For example, not too long ago Gossip Cop busted the same outlet when it falsely claimed Jolie "misses talking" to Pitt. Shortly after that, the site similarly insisted in a subsequent post how Jolie misses talking to Pitt and constantly "resist[s] the urge" to call him.
Following that, HollywoodLies crafted another doozy about how Jolie misses Pitt so much, she cried when finding a T-shirt of his in her home. In that piece, the outlet swore up and down Jolie was "grieving the loss of her marriage" to Pitt. Actually, the premise completely defied logic because it was impossible for the actor's T-shirt to be in her new home since he never lived there with Jolie. And Gossip Cop called out the very same blog for untruthfully contending on Halloween that Jolie was "missing Brad Pitt more" because it was their favorite holiday.
Lastly, just a few weeks ago, Gossip Cop exposed that outlet again for inaccurately asserting Jolie "still misses" Pitt and has "feelings of disappointment" that their marriage is ending. One week the site reports Jolie "misses" Pitt, the next it claims she's full of "resentment" towards him. A skeptic might argue HollywoodLies just makes it up as it goes along. Jolie's camp, however, has told Gossip Cop on numerous occasions that no one close to the actress is sharing anything with that blog about her personal life or divorce from Pitt. As for the latest tale about her blaming Pitt for putting her "career aside," we're assured it's also untrue.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
