Did Andrew Garfield give Claire Foy the “silent treatment” on the set of Breathe? According to one of this week’s tabloids, the method actor ignored his co-star for three days during filming because in the movie their characters are going through an acrimonious divorce. But Gossip Cop has learned it’s not true.

“Andy’s Silent Snub Ignites Queenly Claire’s Temper!” reads the headline of a new Star story. In the article, the gossip magazine alleges that Garfield’s “maddening method acting” made Foy “want to spontaneously combust,” despite having initially “hit it off” with The Amazing Spider-Man star. A so-called “source” tells the outlet, “Off-camera, Andrew ghosted Claire. For three days he didn’t speak to her or even make eye contact.”

The magazine’s questionable “insider” adds, “Finally, he confessed the hurtful brushoff was an acting trick he used to ‘get into’ scenes.” But the tabloid maintains, Foy wasn’t prepared to accept Garfield’s apology and was “so peeved by the sneaky snub” that she “called him another name that starts with ‘A.'”

Gossip Cop looked into the report, and a source close to the actress tells us on background the claim is just “dumb.” Contrary to the publication’s premise, Garfield did not give Foy the “silent treatment” on the set of their new movie. Actually, the two got along quite well.

While speaking to Hello!, Garfield praised Foy, calling her “wonderful.” He told the magazine, “It was amazing to work with her. She’s such a wonderful actor and a wonderful person. It was a lovely time.” In a subsequent interview, Foy said she “loved working” with Garfield, and added, “I’d love to do it again.”

This isn’t the first time Gossip Cop has had to correct the tabloid for publishing a bogus story about Garfield. Earlier this year, we called out Star for untruthfully alleging Garfield and Riley Keough were flirting at a Golden Globes after-party. Much like that off-base claim, the new report about Garfield giving Foy the “silent treatment” on the set of Breathe is equally meritless.
