In the upcoming film, the two actresses play a mother and daughter who are kidnapped while on a vacation in South America. On the morning talk show, Schumer recalled offering Hawn the role after spotting her on a plane, noting, “I left her alone during the flight. We never met. I waited until we got off the plane and then I harassed her. I was like, ‘I really want you to play my mom in this movie.'”

But Hawn admitted during their appearance that she has little recollection of the incident, saying, “I thought you were the cutest thing, but I’m still trying to remember when that happened.” Schumer then joked, “Nobody remembers meeting me, it’s hurtful.” As for why she wanted Hawn to co-star in the movie, the Trainwreck star said, “There’s no one funnier than Goldie.”

Hawn, however, was in semi-retirement when she was approached for the role, having not appeared in a film in 15 years. “I think she was in jail, personally,” Schumer quipped, but the legendary actress explained she’d taken a break from show business to work on a program aimed at teaching children.

Finally, the women were asked what advice they received from their own moms, and Schumer answered, “Keep your feet in a bucket, because you can’t open your legs if they’re in a bucket.” Hawn similarly offered, “Mine told me to stay off the casting couch.” As for the guidance Hawn gave Schumer, the actress confessed, “I just watch her fly and let her be free and not try to hold her back.” Watch the full interview below!
