Amy Schumer is not pregnant, despite baseless speculation from an unreliable tabloid. The theory is being thrown around simply because the comedienne married chef Chris Fischer after only a few months of dating. Gossip Cop, however, can confirm that she's not expecting a baby with her new husband.
Earlier this month, Schumer and Fischer got married in Malibu in front of around 80 guests, including stars such as Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lawrence and Jake Gyllenhaal. The nuptials were somewhat surprising considering that the actress was first linked to Fischer in November, a few months after her split from ex-boyfriend Ben Hanisch. Woman's Day is now insisting that Schumer only tied the knot so soon because she's with child.
"It's just so bizarre how quickly Amy decided to rush down the aisle, but it would make perfect sense if she's pregnant," a so-called "insider" tells the magazine. "There's a lot of talk flying around that she is indeed expecting but doesn't want to draw attention to herself." The supposed source adds, "Right now Amy isn't admitting she's pregnant to anyone, but it wouldn't surprise her close circle if she was."
The outlet's questionable insider further speculates that Schumer is keeping her "pregnancy" under wraps so that the "eventual announcement can be made strictly on her own terms." But Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for the comedienne, who exclusively assures us that the tabloid's article is false. In fact, shortly after the news of her secret wedding emerged, Schumer herself noted on Instagram, "No I'm not pregnant." The actress also appears to be drinking alcohol in some of the photos from the ceremony. Regardless, Gossip Cop can confirm she's not expecting.
Of course, this wouldn't be the first time we've had to debunk rumors about the actress's personal life. Gossip Cop previously called out a publication for falsely claiming that Schumer was dating John Mayer. Prior to that nonsense, another outlet wrongly reported that the actress was engaged to Hanisch and planning a spring 2017 wedding. The two broke up shortly after we corrected the article.
Now that the status of Schumer's relationship is certain, the tabloids have gone from speculating about her love life to assigning her a due date. But the actress's wedding wasn't a "shotgun ceremony," despite Woman's Day using such terms to describe her nuptials. This is simply a non-story.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
