“American Idol” bosses have not warned Katy Perry against stealing the spotlight when she judges the upcoming reboot, despite a bogus report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this claim.

A new article posted on RadarOnline claims ABC executives are worried about the outspoken singer hogging attention from the contestants and other judges on the reality competition show, so they’ve instructed her to dial it back. A supposed “source” tells the site, “They want a more modulated and thoughtful Katy. It’s not like they’re asking her to change her hairstyle or revise her style team, but they are asking her not to upstage the contestants the way some past judges, especially Mariah Carey, had the tendency to do.”

The outlet’s dubious insider adds, “They want the show to be disciplined and taken as seriously as the Oscars instead of taking on the circus atmosphere that has made ‘The Voice’ such a big hit.” The seemingly phony source goes on to say producers have suggested “dressing down” Perry so she seems more “down-to-earth” as opposed to an “over the top glam queen.” Of course, this completely contradicts the alleged insider’s previous statement about not revamping her style.

Regardless, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who exclusively assures us the pop star hasn’t been warned against “stealing” the show, nor has she been advised to change her behavior. In fact, the “American Idol” producers hired Perry due to her outgoing personality, so it makes very little sense they’re concerned about her sabotaging the show. The webloid’s report is both made-up and illogical.

Unfortunately, RadarOnline is the same untrustworthy outlet that previously alleged Perry was having a “breakdown,” which wasn’t the case. As for the site’s previous fabrications about the “American Idol” revival, Gossip Cop busted the webloid earlier this year when it wrongly reported Kanye West was becoming a judge on the reboot. This latest article regarding Perry’s role on the show is equally untrue.
