Amber Heard’s lawyer is slamming the allegation she’s blackmailing Johnny Depp with her domestic violence accusations. Her attorney calls the claim “absolutely and unequivocally false.”

As Gossip Cop reported on Sunday, a friend of the actor, comedian Doug Stanhope, penned a column for The Wrap in which he claimed Heard is lying about being abused by Depp, and that he had seen the couple’s relationship become more and more troubled over the years. Stanhope wrote, “We’d watched it build like this since before they were married. We’d watched her manipulate and f*** with him for years. We didn’t say a word. To each other, yes, but never to him.” Stanhope further claimed that prior to the alleged domestic violence incident, Depp allegedly told him Heard was “threatening to lie about him publicly in any and every possible duplicitous way if he didn’t agree to her terms.” “Blackmail is what I would imagine other people might put it, including the manner in which he is now being vilified,” stated Stanhope.

While The Wrap says it reached out to Heard’s camp for comment before publishing Stanhope’s guest column, on Monday the outlet received a legal letter demanding a retraction. In the letter, the actress and model’s lawyer writes, “Allegations against Ms. Heard are absolutely and unequivocally false.” The attorney’s letter also addressed Stanhope’s blackmail claim, saying it “has no basis in reality and is nothing but the typical celebrity muckraking for profit.”

Heard filed for divorce from Depp last week after 15 months of marriage. On Friday, she received a temporary restraining order from the actor after she claimed he was verbally and physically abusive during their relationship. Depp’s reps have denied all abuse allegations and say Heard is attempting to secure a “premature” financial settlement from him.
