Alex Rodriguez didn't propose to Jennifer Lopez during a recent trip to Paris, nor are the two in the process of planning a wedding. These claims can be found in one of this week's new tabloids, but Gossip Cop has the truth.
The couple recently enjoyed a vacation together in France, and In Touch now contends the pair got engaged in the city of love. A supposed "source" tells the magazine, "Alex got down on one knee and asked Jennifer to marry him during their romantic trip... She burst into tears and said 'Yes!'" The outlet's dubious insider goes on to claim the two are now planning an extravagant "fairy tale" wedding that will cost around $3 million.
"Jennifer doesn't care that this is her fourth marriage," adds the tabloid's questionable source. "She never likes to pull back on anything and is determined to make her wedding an unforgettable day, no matter how much it costs." The outlet then goes on to make up details about the couple's nonexistent ceremony, claiming Lopez is looking into France's Palace of Versailles as a possible venue. The repeatedly discredited publication also claims all of the couple's A-list guests "will be flown into Paris for a weekend of celebrations."
The magazine's seemingly phony source adds, "Food and alcohol alone will cost $500,000. After dinner, guests will be treated to a $150,000 fireworks display." The "insider" also purports that Lopez will wear a "French-themed" wedding gown, while her and Rodriguez's respective kids will be heavily involved in the ceremony. This so-called fantasy wedding, however, was completely dreamed up by In Touch.
Gossip Cop checked in with a mutual pal of ours and Lopez, who exclusively tells us the singer is definitely "not engaged," and therefore isn't planning any nuptials. Meanwhile, the former MLB player's rep laughed off the report and joked, "We had the wedding yesterday." Simply put, the outlet's marriage rundown is complete fiction.
Unfortunately, In Touch has a habit of publishing fake news about the couple, so this latest fabrication comes as no surprise. Gossip Cop recently busted the tabloid for falsely claiming Lopez and Rodriguez were signing a $760 million prenup. We also debunked the magazine's phony story about Rodriguez making Lopez wear sexy clothes around the house. This latest article is equally bogus.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
