One of this week's tabloids claims Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are discussing having an open marriage. The story is completely ridiculous. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
Last week, former MLB player Jose Canseco accused Rodriguez of cheating on Lopez with his ex-wife, Jessica Canseco. Jessica called her ex-husband's claims "false accusations" and noted that she hasn't seen Rodriguez in more than five years. According to NW, Lopez is "devastated" by the cheating allegations, but "isn't shocked" by them.
An alleged insider tells the magazine, "This is something she is going to have to get used to, and she's made her peace with that. Alex definitely has a reputation for being a serial cheater." The outlet's supposed source adds, "While he insists that's all in the past, the rumors have continued to haunt him throughout his relationship with Jennifer."
The outlet further contends that Lopez is considering "coming to an arrangement" in which her fiance could quietly see other women on the side. "At this point, you've got to wonder if this is all because she totally trusts him or if she's actually cool with his indiscretions - just so long as he keeps them a secret," adds the questionable tipster. "If he's seriously incapable of keeping it in his pants, then he'd probably be happy with an open marriage."
The seemingly phony source goes on to say the singer "would be willing to look the other way" because she's "loving all the attention she's got from being with Alex and the fact they're a major power couple." The so-called "insider" concludes, "She knows their status is only going to be cemented once they get married. Jennifer cares a lot about maintaining a perfect image, and that's just one of the reasons she'd find it hard to walk away from this, no matter what comes out."
The tabloid's bogus article is based on claims from an anonymous "source," but Gossip Cop checked in with Rodriguez's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that it's nonsense. Despite what the outlet's untraceable "insider" claims, a rep qualified to speak on the former baseball star's behalf assures us he and Lopez aren't considering an open marriage.
It's worth noting, Rodriguez and Canseco have a contentious history, and many have speculated that Canseco was lashing out due to their checkered past. Us Weekly reported last week that Lopez "trusts" Rodriguez and isn't bothered by the latest cheating allegations, which are coming from someone who may possibly have "an ax to grind." Regardless, Gossip Cop can confirm that this narrative surrounding an "open marriage" is fabricated.
Additionally, NW has proven to be very unreliable when it comes to reporting about the couple. In January, Gossip Cop busted the outlet for falsely claiming Lopez was dumping Rodriguez for Ben Affleck. Last May, the tabloid wrongly reported that Lopez and Rodriguez were secretly engaged and getting married over July Fourth weekend. This latest article is more fiction.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
