One of this week's tabloids claims Alex Rodriguez feels "trapped" by Jennifer Lopez and wants to start dating other women again. The premise is completely untrue. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk it.
According to the National Enquirer, the former MLB player misses the single life and is sick of his girlfriend's "controlling ways." An alleged insider tells the magazine, "Alex is feeling very caged. He's tired of being stuck with one woman - even if it is J. Lo." The supposed source adds, "Jen's people are too controlling for his tastes. They want him to play the role of a perfect mate - and that's out of his league. He's ready to start playing the field again."
Gossip Cop was a bit suspicious of the magazine's supposed "source," considering that real people don't typically use multiple baseball puns in a casual conversation. Our doubts were confirmed after checking in with Rodriguez's rep, who tells us on the record that the tabloid's story is complete nonsense. Despite what an anonymous "insider" says about the former Yankee star's relationship, a spokesperson qualified to speak on his behalf confirms he's very happy with Lopez.
In fact, the retired athlete's social media pages prove his romance is going very strong. Earlier this week, Rodriguez posted an Instagram video documenting the final night of Lopez's All I Have residency in Las Vegas. He added the caption, "I am so incredibly proud of this amazing woman and feel blessed to have been able to witness her #AlliHave journey over the past 3 record-breaking years. Jennifer, you inspire me day in and day out. I love you." Those hardly sound like the words of a man who feels "trapped" in his relationship.
Meanwhile, Lopez recently spoke to E! News about how supportive Rodriguez has been throughout the run of her residency. The singer noted that her boyfriend constantly attended her shows, and added, "It's been something beyond my wildest dreams to have a partner who is so supportive and loving... That type of love and support that makes you soar." If Rodriguez truly wanted to be single again, as the tabloid alleges, he wouldn't be going out of his way to be at his girlfriend's side.
Additionally, the Enquirer has already proven to know very little about the couple's relationship. In July, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming that Rodriguez's ex-wife was "furious" over his engagement to Lopez. The main problem with the story? The former MLB player and singer aren't engaged. This latest article is more lies from the unreliable outlet.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
