Alec Baldwin Donald Trump SNL Raise

A new tabloid report claims Alec Baldwin is demanding more money to continue impersonating Donald Trump on “Saturday Night Live,” but Gossip Cop looked into the story, and we can exclusively reveal the truth.

The actor’s recurring portrayal of the president has been a major highlight of the sketch show’s current season, but a new National Enquirer article says Baldwin will quit the gig if he doesn’t get a raise. A questionable insider tells the magazine the actor “initially accepted the job at ‘SNL’ for minimum pay… but now that he could be joining the cast for years he wants more.”

But Gossip Cop checked in with a trustworthy “SNL” insider, who exclusively tells us the tabloid’s report is simply “not accurate.” Baldwin has yet to determine how much longer he’ll play Trump on the show, but the actor isn’t holding out for higher salary, and money isn’t a factor in his decision.

In fact, Baldwin revealed last month during an interview with “Extra” that he’s likely “not going to [play Trump] much longer” because “the maliciousness of this White House has people worried” and he’s not sure “how much more people can take it.” Additionally, Baldwin has a loyal and longstanding relationship with “SNL,” having hosted a record 17 times, and he doesn’t use the show as his primary source of income.

It should also be noted, this isn’t the Enquirer’s first false story surrounding the actor’s “SNL” impression. Gossip Cop previously busted the magazine for wrongly reporting Baldwin would stop impersonating Trump directly after hosting the show on February 11. Of course, he’s still playing the role nearly three months later. We also corrected the tabloid for falsely claiming Baldwin’s Trump impression is revenge for ex-wife Kim Basinger having a crush on the former real estate mogul.
