Fox News commentator Alan Colmes has died after a brief illness. He was 66. Many of the late pundit’s colleagues and other notable figures in the news industry are reacting to his death on Twitter. See tributes below.

Colmes joined Fox News in 1996, serving as the liberal counterpart to Sean Hannity as co-host of “Hannity & Colmes,” which ran until 2009. He went on to host his own news-driven late-night radio show, “The Alan Colmes Show,” for which he interviewed many key political figures. Colmes is survived by his wife, Jocelyn Crowley.

Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly was one of the first reporters to pay tribute to Colmes on Twitter, writing, “Heartbroken my friend Alan Colmes has died. He lit up the FNC halls w/his kindness & humor. Incredibly positive force. Prayers 4 his family.” Glenn Beck tweeted, “RIP @AlanColmes. Shock. While is disagreed with him on many things he was a good and decent man. Indeed, all that matters in the end.” And Greta Van Susteren said, “Alan Colmes was always a gentleman…always kind…a wonderful colleague.”

Ann Coulter wrote, “WHAT? @AlanColmes passed away????? Noooooooooooo! Very sad. He was a good guy. Always surprised people that way.” Brit Hume offered, “So sad to hear of the death of Fox News colleague Alan Colmes. He and I agreed on little, but I liked him immensely. Good guy. R.I.P.” And Fox Business Network host Trish Regan expressed, “So sad to hear the news about my friend Alan Colmes. He was a wonderful colleague, kind person and a great debater. He will be missed.” Larry King commented, “So saddened to learn of Alan Colmes’ passing. He took his craft seriously & was a damned likable man.”

Meanwhile, Meghan McCain said, “Deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my @foxnews colleague @alancolmes. A very nice, genuine man I had the pleasure to work with.” Liz Claman expressed, “I can tell you tears r flowing @FoxBusiness @FoxNews right now. We are all devastated by the loss of kind soul @AlanColmes may god bless RIP.” Jedediah Bila, now a co-host on “The View,” wrote, “Did a lot of work with Alan Colmes at Fox. Great guy, so smart, an absolute pleasure to debate and work with. Rest in peace, my friend.” And Mike Tobin tweeted, “Shocked to hear of the passing of Alan Colmes. Thanks for providing great perspective on the stories of the day.”
