Adam Sandler is not refusing to appear on David Spade’s new Comedy Central talk show, despite a false tabloid report. Gossip Cop can correct the story. It’s simply not true.

According to OK!, Spade promised the producers of his new late-night talk show, Lights Out with David Spade, that he’d get several of his A-list friends to come on and “spill their dirty secrets,” but he hasn’t delivered. “David said he’d have some fun with their huge celebrity egos, but not one’s having it,” a supposed source tells the magazine.

The alleged insider singles out Sandler as one of Spade’s famous pals who won’t appear on his show, saying the Murder Mystery star is “terrified” of his friend’s “sharp tongue.” The unreliable outlet goes on to say the lack of A-list guests has become “a serious issue” for Comedy Central, while the suspicious tipster suggests that Spade “needs a new circle of friends.”

Not only does a source involved in the production of Lights Out tell us the tabloid’s story is “not true,” but there’s many holes in the premise as well. Sandler spent the summer in Massachusetts shooting his upcoming Netflix movie Hubie Halloween. The comedy was filmed on the east coast from the beginning of July through the end of August. Spade’s talk show, which shoots in Los Angeles, premiered in late July. Sandler simply wasn’t in town.

Although it still remains to be seen if Sandler will appear on Spade’s talk show, he certainly isn’t refusing to do so. Gossip Cop reached out to Sandler’s spokesperson, who tells us the magazine’s report is “completely not true,” and further notes that he and Spade “are great friends.” In reality, the movie star has been incredibly supportive of his friend’s career throughout the years.

Sandler was the producer behind a number of Spade’s movies, including Joe Dirt, The Benchwarmers and his upcoming Netflix comedy The Wrong Missy. Sandler and Spade also co-starred together in the Grown Ups franchise and the Netflix comedy The Do-Over. In fact, Spade opened his talk show by joking about owing his career to Sandler.

This isn’t the first time we’ve had to debunk a story involving the two “Saturday Night Live” alums. Gossip Cop previously busted OK!’s sister outlet, Us Weekly, for wrongly reporting Sandler and Spade were helping Justin Bieber break into acting. Sandler himself referred to the tabloid’s article as “some weird story that they made up.”

Prior to that, Gossip Cop called out OK!’s other sister publication, the National Enquirer, for making up a story about Spade helping Brad Pitt get sober. The gossip media simply has no insight into Spade’s friendships with other Hollywood stars.
