Adam Devine MTV Awards Video

Adam Devine made history when he opened the first-ever MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday with a hilarious spoof of Beauty And The Beast. Watch the video below!

While many top celebrities have hosted the MTV Movie Awards over the last two decades, Devine will be remembered as the very first host of the inaugural MTV Movie & TV Awards. Taking the stage at the Shrine Auditorium, the comedic actor kicked things off with a Beauty and The Beast parody, spoofing songs from the musical movie, with cameos from a number of stars, like Hailee Steinfeld, Rebel Wilson, Millie Bobby Brown, Josh Gad, Blake Anderson, Mike Colter, and Chrissy Metz. The lyrics were changed to reference celebs, movies and television shows nominated for the awards.

MTV announced in April that Devine would host its revamped and expanded awards show. The actor spent years starring in “Workaholics” on sister network Comedy Central, and had memorable turns on the big screen in the Pitch Perfect series and Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates. He’s also a previous MTV Movie Awards winner, taking home Best Kiss with Wilson last year. The Pitch Perfect 2 co-stars also appeared on stage at the 2016 ceremony to celebrate the award show’s 25th anniversary.

As Gossip Cop noted at the time, however, the 2016 MTV Movie Awards were pre-taped, airing on television one night after the event was actually held. This time around, MTV is back to broadcasting live, no doubt increasing the pressure on Devine, but also probably energizing him and the crowd. As host of the big event, he follows in the footsteps of Wilson, who presided over the Movie Awards ceremony back in 2013, as well as Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart (2016), Amy Schumer (2015), and Conan O’Brien (2014).

But it’s Devine who will be able to say he hosted MTV’s first Movie & TV Awards. Check out video of the opening below!
