“Dance Moms” star Abby Lee Miller is going to prison. The reality star was sentenced on Tuesday in a federal court in Pittsburgh to one year and a day behind bars for fraud. She’s also being fined $160,000, and will be under supervision for two years following her release from a Los Angeles-area prison. Miller was in tears as the judge read her sentence.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, Miller was first indicted in October 2015 for hiding income from “Dance Moms,” as she was going through a bankruptcy proceeding that began in 2010. Miller was accused of concealing more than $755,000 she earned from her TV shows, merchandise, and dance lessons at her Los Angeles studio. Some monies were hidden in a secret bank account, while part of her salary from “Dance Moms” was diverted to her mother in an effort to avoid its inclusion in her bankruptcy case. Miller also was previously busted for smuggling $120,000 from Australia into the U.S. As a result of the twenty-plus fraud charges, Miller was facing up to five years in prison and fines totaling $5 million.

She took the stand in her own defense, and asked the judge for leniency. Additionally, her lawyers sought probation, arguing that Miller is a first-time offender, but the judge was unswayed. Now, the “Dance Moms” star is off to prison for a little more than a year.
