Abby Lee Miller cried in a “GMA” interview broadcast on Wednesday, hours after her prison sentencing. Watch the video below.

As Gossip Cop reported, on Tuesday Miller was sentenced to a year and a day in prison for bankruptcy fraud and failing to disclose $120,000 in foreign currency. The “Dance Moms” personality was facing up to five years behind bars, so this punishment is lenient in comparison. Nevertheless, when she sat down with ABC following the hearing, she was still processing it all.

Miller insisted she did not “intentionally” try to hide money, further saying, “I wasn’t ever trying to hurt anyone.” What would she do differently if she could go back? “I would never have filed for bankruptcy, ever. I would not recommend it,” she said.

The dance instructor became emotional when reflecting on the reality show that brought her fame and, arguably, misfortune. “I have spent so much time and so much energy making other people’s children stars. I didn’t have any children of my own. These were my kids, and I raised them like they were my kids,” she said, her eyes filling with tears.

Looking ahead, Miller said her goal is to be a “smarter businesswoman and also to worry about myself.” As for her time locked up, the reality star said, “We’re just going to pretend I’m shooting a movie and we’re on set, and I’m there for 10 months. And that’s the way it’s going to be!”

Miller said she plans to spend her time reading and learning Spanish, and revealed she’s “already working on a new book.” She’s expected to turn herself in within the next 44 days, and will probably only serve 10 months with good behavior. Check out the “Good Morning America” video below.
