Animals are ruling the box office once again, with Zootopia winning the weekend for the second time in a row. The animated movie, which has received rave reviews and broke a Disney record with its debut last week, remains king of the box office jungle with $50 million in ticket sales.
Coming in a respectable second place was 10 Cloverfield Lane, which took in $25.2 million. Meanwhile, Deadpool continued to show its superhero might by hanging on to the number three spot with $10.8 million. Securing the fourth and fifth spots were the Gerard Butler sequel London Has Fallen, with $10.7 million, followed by Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, with a a smaller haul of $4.6 million.
Rounding out the Top 10 were The Perfect Match. It earned $4.2 million to finish in sixth for its opening weekend. With box office receipts of $3.4 million, the Biblical film The Messiah landed in the number seven spot. Most surprisingly, the The Brothers Grimsby bombed, as Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest could only muster an eighth-place debut with a paltry $3.2 million. The other Butler flick, Gods Of Egypt had a ninth place finish with $2.5 million. And the other faith-based movie Risen just made it into the Top 10 with $2.3 million.
