Zayn Malik Thanks Fans For Support After Canceling Performance Over Anxiety
Zayn Malik thanked his fans on Sunday for their “kind messages of support” after he canceled at the last-minute his Capital FM Summertime Ball performance in London that was slated for Saturday night. As Gossip Cop reported, Malik bowed out of the performance, admitting that his intense “anxiety” had “gotten the better” of him and was unable to hit the stage.
Naturally, Malik’s many fans rallied about the singer. One supporter tweeted, “@zaynmalik We hope you feel better Zayn we love you so much #WeLoveYouZayn.” Another wrote, “Some people self medicate their anxiety with booze/non prescribed drugs. Far braver & sensible to be like #Zayn & say ‘I need time out.'” And a third fan expressed, “Zayn your real fans will always support you! We only want your happiness and well being!”
“@zaynmalik get well soon Zayn. We can understand. Just do what you gotta do to feel better. Ignore those haters, we’re all here for you,” added another fan. One of Malik’s many supporters noted, “This is so important. Thank you Zayn for being honest with us. We just care about your feelings.” Meanwhile, echoing the sentiments of others, yet another fan tweeted, “I hope zayn is okay. anxiety is very hard to deal with and im so proud of him for admitting it i hope he gets well soon #GetWellSoonZayn.”
Following numerous messages expressing concern for him, Malik responded on Sunday morning. He tweeted his gratitude, writing, “Thank you for your kind messages of support. It means a lot.”
As Gossip Cop reported on Saturday, while fans waited for Malik’s to perform at the Capital FM Summertime Ball, along with such other artists as Little Mix and Nick Jonas, he released a statement (below) that noted he flew into London on Friday, planning to sing but “unfortunately my anxiety that has haunted me throughout the last few months around live performances has gotten the better of me.” He further explained, “With the magnitude of the event, I experienced the worst anxiety of my career.”
After apologizing to fans who “patiently waited to see me,” Malik wrote, “I promise I will do my best to make this up to everybody I’ve let down today.” The former One Direction singer continued, “I know those who suffer with anxiety will understand and I hope those who don’t can empathize with my situation.”
