Zayn Malik Announces ‘Pillow Talk,’ First Solo Single
Zayn Malik announced the release of “Pillow Talk,” his first solo single, on Sunday morning. The former One Direction singer simply tweeted a photo of what seemingly is the single’s cover, a shirtless picture of Malik, along with the words “Pillow Talk.” The photo also included the song’s release date of January 29. The singer left One Direction 10 months ago to embark on a solo career.
Malik told the Sunday Times the song “Pillow Talk” is about “dirty and raw” sex. He noted, “Everybody has sex, and it’s something people want hear about,” adding, “It’s part of everybody’s life, a very BIG part of life! And you don’t want to sweep it under the carpet. It has to be talked about.”
The song reportedly will have a more R&B feel, which is not surprising. Malik made a point in his November interview with Fader to say his former group’s music wasn’t his taste. “I wasn’t 100 percent behind the music. It wasn’t me,” stressed Malik, adding, “That’s not music that I would listen to.”
Shortly after Malik’s tweet with the song’s cover photo, the hashtag “#PillowTalk” began to trend on Twitter. In addition to dropping “Pillow Talk” on Friday, he’ll also release the song’s music video. Additionally, Malik will appear that same day on “The Graham Norton” show to discuss the track and his solo album.
