Zayn Malik: I Was NOT Throwing Shade With “Naked” Tweet
Zayn Malik is showing support for those who like to be naked, though some wrongly interpreted his message as shade in the wake of last week’s Kim Kardashian controversy.
On Tuesday, the singer tweeted, “Love how people feel liberated naked .. Read a book liberate your brain.” Malik was attempting to convey his belief that being naked can be freeing, an intellectual concept that he apparently feels some could stand to learn. But some took his tweet the opposite way, as if he was saying that only dumb people flaunt their bodies and should instead get some book smarts.
In response to the confusion, Malik tweeted, “This is not shade. Love .. liberate yourself with education and learn to love everyone’s expression .. I said love how exactly is that shade? Explanation done.”
The British star then retweeted two followers who clearly understood what he meant. @zapsarah wrote, “Y’all dumbasses Zayn [said] LOVE as in learn to love how ppl love to express themselves.” And @godlypurposes said, “I think what Zayn meant to say was he loves that people feel liberated naked and the people who shame them should liberate their brain.”
After using those two fans to help his message across, Malik gave up on the ensuing debate. “Laters people this sh*ts exhausting! Have a good night ha.” The former One Direction member’s tweets came about a week after Kardashian’s nude selfies led to a debate about slut-shamming. Though he wasn’t one of the celebs to speak out at the time, it seems the reality star likely had Malik’s approval.
