Zayn Malik NOT “About To Leave” One Direction, NOT “Going Solo,” Despite Claim
Gossip Cop confirms with a rep that the claims are “not true.”
The rumor heated up thanks to Daily Star, an outlet that has spread similar allegations of One Direction breakups in the past. This time the British paper writes, “Fans are fearing Zayn – who is engaged to Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards – could be about to leave the band after it emerged he’s going to work on new material with Labrinth as a separate side project.”
Daily Star quotes Labrinth as saying, “I’m going to do something with Zayn. We’re going to make a soulful record 100 percent.”
That’s enough for the publication to start fanning the flames. Daily Star writes, “Although that sounds like an exciting prospect, it’s sure to have the band’s hardcore fan base wincing – will he have time to work with the Beneath Your Beautiful singer and continue his hectic schedule of recording and touring with One Direction?”
Well, let Gossip Cop answer what Daily Star clearly can’t. Yes, Malik will still have time to work with Labrinth and continue on with One Direction.
While the group’s rep was not at liberty to discuss Labrinth’s project, Gossip Cop is assured, “Fact is, he’s not going solo.” We repeat: Malik is NOT leaving the band.
Of course, Daily Star repeatedly claimed over the last several years that Harry Styles was set to embark on a solo career, and was repeatedly wrong. One Direction is now slated to release its fourth album in November.
