Zayn Malik Dumps Perrie Edwards: Fans React To Shocking Breakup On Twitter
As Gossip Cop confirmed earlier Tuesday, Malik shockingly broke up with Edwards two weeks ago, calling off their two-year engagement. Edwards is “devastated” over the sudden split, and fans seem just as stunned. But, not surprisingly, some are quite happy.
“Is it bad that I am thrilled that Zayn and perrie broke up?” wrote one Twitter user. A different fan excitedly wrote, “I TOLD MY MOM PERRIE AND ZAYN BROKE UP AND SHE GOES ‘I BET YOU’RE HAPPY’ YES YES YES YES I AM.” And someone else, apparently too ecstatic to type properly, tweeted, “IM SO HAPPY ZERRIE ENDED WOO ZAYN IS FREE NOW I CAMT BELIVE IF IM OVER TJECMOON.”
Some wondered if Malik’s decision was career-related, like the person who wrote, “So no more Zerrie??? Guess Zayn took really serious the thing about going solo, shame.” Another expressed, “I can’t believe that Zayn’s first single was himself.” A different Directioner was in disbelief, too, confessing, “wow. I’ve waited for 2 years. it’s finally here. I can’t process it. oh my gosh.”
The breakup comes one month after fans actually pleaded with Malik on Twitter to ditch Edwards. One Twitter user now called out those folks, writing, “remember this; #CANCELYOURENGAGEMENTZAYN well ya’ll got what u wanted, u happy now?” And someone else pointed out, “I love how all of you teeny boppers are just thrilled that zayn and perrie aren’t together. Do you really think he’s gonna date any of you?”
Some others, though, were truly upset about “Zerrie” being no more. “If zayn and Perrie have actually broken up then I’ll be sad forever,” declared one person. Another expressed concern for Malik, writing, “whether zerrie are still ‘together’ or not i just hope zayn is happy and healthy and okay.” And given that Tuesday was already full of One Direction news, it’s no wonder this fan posted, “I’m sad about zerrie but also not surprised??? Idk today is too stressful I need a nap.”
As Gossip Cop reported, the remaining members of One Direction appeared on “Good Morning America,” where they performed “Drag Me Down” on television for the first time, and Louis Tomlinson finally acknowledged he’s going to be a dad. After, the guys filmed a segment for “The View,” in which host Michelle Collins repeatedly hit on Harry Styles.
That easily would’ve been enough for one day… and then the fandom got rocked by the Malik-Edwards news. And to think, it’s only Tuesday! TELL US: What do you think of the reaction to Malik and Edwards’ split?
