Woman In Gold Trailer: Watch Ryan Reynolds And Helen Mirren Try To Recover Painting Stolen By The Nazis
Ryan Reynolds, Helen Mirren, and Katie Holmes star in Woman In Gold, an upcoming movie about one woman’s quest to recover a painting stolen from her family by the Nazis. Check out the first trailer below!
Based on the true story of Maria Atlmann, Mirren stars as the late Holocaust survivor, who enlists Reynold’s attorney character to help get back art that the Nazis seized from her relatives during World War II. In flashbacks, a young Maria is portrayed by Tatiana Maslany of “Orphan Black,” and viewers see the past and present meld together as the duo go up against the Austrian government, which has the painting hanging in a museum.
Holmes appears as the wife of Reynold’s lawyer, and Daniel Bruhl, Frances Fisher, and Max Irons star in supporting roles as well. While dealing with a very serious subject matter, there are also some light-hearted moments, like when Mirren’s Maria tells Reynolds during their uphill battle, “This is like a James Bond film. You’re Sean Connery.”
The movie follows George Clooney’s The Monuments Men, a somewhat similar tale of obtaining art work stolen by the Nazis before it is destroyed. Woman In Gold does not yet have a release date. Check out the preview below, and tell us what you think.
