Wolfgang Van Halen: One Direction Are “D*ckheads” And “Sh**ty” Boy Band

Wolfgang Van Halen has a serious beef… with One Direction.

The rocker and son of Eddie Van Halen called out the boy band on Twitter Tuesday, alleging he had a nasty run-in with the group in Birmingham, England.

“Fun fact: Was just insulted by that sh**ty boy band #OneDirection in the lobby of our hotel this morning!” tweeted Van Halen.

He continued, “No joke. That ACTUALLY happened. That group of kids in #OneDirection were d*ckheads to [Tremonti Project band members Eric Friedman, Garrett Whitlock] and I.”

Van Halen quipped afterward, “They must call themselves that because all of their hair points in #OneDirection.”

Whitlock, a drummer, also tweeted about the alleged incident, writing, “Had a run in with some boy band in the hotel lobby. no worries. I can’t take a insult from someone who doesn’t even write there own tunes.”

None of the One Direction members have responded to the allegations yet on Twitter, and Gossip Cop has reached out to a rep for their side of the story.

We’ll have updates.

Would love to know what actually happened and what was said.

I think it’s redundant to call them a shitty boy-band. It kind of goes without saying 1-Dimension are shitty because well they’re a boy-band. All boy-bands from the New Kids on the Block to the Backstreet Boys to 1-Dimension and the Unwanted are all garbage.

Disagree on one thing. NSync were fantastic. lol

I’m sorry, but I quite love me some Backstreet Boys.

What is it with sons of legendary rock stars being complete morons? Ozzy Osbourne’s son Jack seems to still be a moron and he’s a father now. They grow up rich and entitled and they are about to call out other young people who actually support their families as opposed to being rich trust funds kids? I don’t listen to One Direction, not my type of music anymore, but there is no doubt that they aren’t profiting from their daddy’s celebrity and talent unlike this Wolfgang guy and the Jack Osbourne’s of the world.

Wolfie needs to get over himself. He’s yet to make any real marks in the recording industry besides hanging onto his dad’s coat tails, while One Direction is becoming one of the hottest groups in ages. Wolfie might want to take some pointers from his mom, Valerie Bertinelli, on how manners, the little fat shit!

  • Me

He’s a moron because he thinks 1-Direction is shit? Let me guess, you were one of the people who wanted to draw and quarter X-tina for not kissing the Wanted’s undeserving pretentious asses. I can understand the anger if it was acts of importance, but not a dime-a-dozen assembly line boy-band.

It’s not entitlement, it’s calling a spade a spade. He’s not alone either so it’s not a matter of “entitled kid of a rockstar” it’s knowing the difference between music and muzaik.

I think I’ve lost all respect for Wolfgang Van Halen. I’m not a major One Direction fan. I do enjoy Backstreet Boys, but I actually grew up listening to 70s-80s rock, including Van Halen. However this isn’t about One Direction now. This is about Wolfgang. I don’t care HOW much talent he may or may not have. I don’t care it he’s riding Dad’s coattails or not… Wolfgang is rude, shows a lack of respect for people, badmouths them in public, and frankly sound jealous and unsure of himself (else he would have just brushed off any alleged insults and moved on with confidence). … I don’t waste time with people who act like jerks, and Wolfgang seems to be just as much a jerk as he thinks One Direction is. smh

Aaahhh jealousy, the Godwin’s Law of pop culture. Always nice to see people shoot themselves in the foot with that stupid argument. Tsk tsk tsk. I mean much like X-tina and The Wanted, it’s not like he was was dissing anyone of any real significance. They’re just a trite boy-band so it’s more like bravo. Kid Rock summed up acts like 1-Dimension best:

    Boy-band are trash.

  • Corina

I seem to remember that Kid Rock and Backstreet’s Kevin Richardson were hanging out together after the Grammy’s in 2000 (according to Spin magazine)… Odd for a guy who thinks they are trash. Of course he may have just been stone drunk. LOL

The funny thing is that Van Halen’s fans are mostly guys. 1D’s fans are mostly girls. How is this a competition? It’s like apples and oranges. These are different types of music, different types of groups, and dissing each others fans when the fanbases are so different is stupid, especially since the fans of 1D may likely be the DAUGHTERS of the fans on Van Halen. When we start comparing two similar types of groups, then it will be more meaningful. That said, we don’t know what 1D said, but we do know that if they did insult VH, then Wolfgang apparently isn’t very mature enough about how he handled it.

You can’t be talking serious, Wolfgang was the reason why Van Halen came back, he’s a great bass player and have great backing vocals, and in interviews you could see he is a brilliant kid, he had a lot of ideas that helped Van Halen release a great album, and he really put passion into the process.

  • Me

Maybe he liked them as people and he was just referring to their music.

Funny how stars like this KNOWN to be assholes and even jerks to their own fans don’t get hate yet people like Justin bieber and other stars who are incredibly nice and respectful to other celebs and their fans get all the hate. I don’t hate 1d but i can’t help but state the obvious.

  • Misha

1D insulting Wolfgang? Yeah right. They may have made a joke that he overheard and was upset by. Or he was agitated with their popularity or thought it unjustified and made it all up. I thought I heard something about Wolfgang punching one of the boys?

    Boyz 2 men?

  • Chris

They get the hate on account of what their music represents in the industry, which is essentially nothing outside of unoriginal statements on all-encompassing beauty and just “having a good time.” They can be nice guys, absolutely, but what differs Justin Bieber from somebody like Michael Jackson or Prince? MJ and Prince were incredibly likeable in their prime, and also revolutionized the industry, primarily because they created a product that everybody could approach and appreciate. They had originality in their music, their dance, and their aesthetics. Justin Bieber (who I admit, is more talented than your average performance enthusiast) may be a unbelievably nice person, but he represents little-to-none in terms of musical originality. Songs like “Purple Rain” and “Smooth Criminal” are greater because they represent paramount American creativity. “Baby”, however, does not. So, as consumers, the natural reaction is to try and display our discontent with the music that occupies the mainstream airwaves. But when it doesn’t go away, anger boils up incorrectly towards the person. It’s nothing personal against Justin, but what he represents. So… seeing as One Direction represents little in evolving our musical culture beyond demeaning the masculinity of the modern male, I think I will join Wolfgang in saying, “Fuck off” to these 5 metrosexual twits. :)
