Figure skating gold medalist Evan Lysacek and gold medal-winning gymnast Nastia Liukin are reportedly dating. 

The pair first met while performing on NBC’s ”Skating & Gymnastics Spectacular” in 2008. But it wasn’t until they attended the ESPY Awards together last July that the relationship started to heat up between the skater and the gymnast.

“It’s just a friendship that has developed into something more,” Lysacek’s rep told Us Weekly.

And Liukin herself confirmed to People magazine that the two were dating.  

“Even though we’re not in the same sport,” Liukin explained, “we got to connect at the same level because there’s nothing like the Olympics. It was nice to be on other side of things and be the support system.” 

And Lysacek appreciates her support. “She been so helpful to me,” he said. “She has been through it herself. If I’m having a bad day, she tells me to have faith and to keep going… And when she tells me things are going to be fine, I really believe it.” 

Talk about a golden couple!

    They are not dating. Evan says in an interview that airs tonight on Entertainment Tonight, he is single.

    Talk about wow. Someone calling Gossip Cop by his first name. Very personal. You must have really ticked this Lara woman off. My bet, and I know about betting from covering sports, is that Lara works at a publication you called out at some point because I only hear good things about you in the newsroom.

    As a journalist, Gossip Cop noted they were “reportedly” dating, citing Us Weekly and People confirmations.

    It wouldn’t surprise me if Evan got cold feet after his side and Nastia acknowledged they’ve begun dating. They want these things out and then they don’t want these things out, for whatever personal reasons. Don’t waste your time even speculating on this Gossip Cop. There could be 1,000 reasons, spanning from fans to endorsements.

    You continue your good work. You are going to have a big impact on this industry.

    Eh. I am going with Evan on this when he says that he has been too busy with practice to date. I mean if Shaun White who practices two to four hours less than Evan says that he is too busy to date, then I can definitely believe Evan when he is too busy to date,
