William & Kate Heckled in Montreal

Truth rating: 10

(GettyImages.com)

Ann Coulter isn’t alone in her disdain for the monarchy.

Prince William and Duchess Kate heard from hecklers in Montreal this weekend, as small crowds of demonstrators chanted “Go home parasites!” and “We will never bend!” outside the children’s hospital and cooking workshop visited by the royal newlyweds.

The anti-monarchist protesters, many of them voicing support for a separatist French Quebec, resent Canada’s ties to Britain, whose Queen Elizabeth II is still the North American nation’s official head of state.

Supporters of William and Kate vastly outnumbered hecklers during their appearances in the city, and there were no reports of violence.

It’s expected that the couple could face even more vocal resistance during today’s visit to Quebec City, the heart of French separatism.

Really?? They are just terrible horrible people for going to help a children’s hospital. I can understand why they were being protested. *eye roll*

Who the hell protests outside of a children’s hospital??? While I understand that the French Canadians are not entirely supportive of the English influence remaining in their nation (and I understand why not) if people have a problem with them, they should find another way to voice their concerns. Everyone knows that it was amazing for Wills and Kate to visit the children and use their position to help people out. Whether people are supportive of their political agenda or not, they should recognize that they are good people and that this was an event that should have gone off without a hitch. I am a fan of peaceful protest and a firm believer that everyone should have the opportunity to voice their opinion if they are unhappy. However, like everything else protest has a proper time and place and a children’s hospital is not the proper place. On a good note, I am pleased that people were able to protest in a non-violent way it seems every time you look on the news there is another shooting or riot or protest gone horribly wrong so great accomplishment for the French Canadians managing their protest in a polite and non-violent manner.

Seriously embarrassed to be a Canadian. No matter how you feel about the Royal family the behavior in Quebec was totally uncalled for, just rude.

Wow canadians publicly embarrassing their country for the 2nd time this year.

  • Jacklaytonndp

It is a lot more reasonable for Canadians to protest a head of state that lives across the ocean (The US fought a war over this) compared to Americans who petition the funerals of soldiers.

Americans embarrass themselves a million times a day.

I’m with them, but they should’ve protested someplace else

The protestors are ignorant and they expressed themselves very well.

Ann Coulter is a vicious, nasty woman and needs to learn to shut her mouth. Does anyone remember how she ripped apart the widows who lost husbands in 9/11 and she basically called these women leeches? She doesn’t have a decent bone in her body. Why keep giving her publicity and a forum to air her hate.

    Outside a *Children’s Hospital*??

Good Lord, how tacky!! Didn’t anyone think about the concept ‘There’s a time & a place for everything’? And outside a hospital where dying and/or extremely sick KIDS, who the new couple were kind enough to visit is DEFINITELY not the right place!!

Not to mention the fact that a *civilized* conversational debate is going to get someone to actually listen to you; whereas name calling & insults does nothing but make a person’s mind snap closed!

The sheer amount of audacity and plain inconsideratation of some people never ceases to amaze me. *shaking head*

People never cease to amaze & disappoint, do they? 

  • Miss Suzanne

People never cease to disappoint me. How pathetically selfish these protestors are. 

‘Disqus’ screwed up royally on me!! ACK, how embarrassing! 
