Will Smith Mulls Future In Politics: The People “Need Me”
Will Smith, who has previously expressed an interest in playing Barack Obama in a movie, now appears to have real-life political aspirations. He says he’s “incensed” by the current political landscape and that the people might “need me out there.”
During an interview on The Hollywood Reporter’s “Awards Chatter” podcast, Smith revealed his desire to change the current political landscape. “They might need me out there,” he said. “This is the first year that I’ve been incensed to a level that I can’t sleep, you know? So I’m feeling that, at some point, in the near future, I will have to lend my voice to the conversation in a somewhat different way.”
Although Smith is still focused on his acting career, the Concussion star went on to say, “At this point, I’m elevating my ability to be useful in the world.” He added, “I think that that’s what my grandmother always hoped, that I would make myself useful to people in this lifetime.”
Smith currently has several movie projects lined up over the next few years, so if his political career does come to fruition, it won’t be for a little while longer. Tell Gossip Cop what you think about Smith revealing his political aspirations.
