Whoopi Goldberg: “There Is No War On Christmas” (VIDEO)
Whoopi Goldberg shot down the notion that there’s a “war on Christmas” on Monday’s “The View.” Watch the video below!
The hosts of the daytime talk-show discussed the Hollywood Christmas Parade, which took place in California this past weekend. The event was hosted by magicians Penn and Teller, who are outspoken atheists.
Candace Cameron Bure had no problem with their involvement, noting, “This is the Hollywood Christmas Parade. It’s all about celebrities and people of all religions and all faiths.”
Michelle Collins agreed, pointing out, “As the lone Jew of this beautiful table, my dream is to be the head of a Christmas parade.” She added, “I love Christmas… I love the feeling. Everyone’s happy.” However, guest co-host Sunny Hostin did take issue with the idea of atheists hosting a Christmas celebration. “I don’t like it,” she said. “The bottom line is, it is commemorating the birth of Christ.”
Goldberg vehemently disagreed, arguing back, “Being the judge of the Christmas parade has nothing to do with our religious beliefs.” She went on, “Your joy for someone having a parade should not be something that keeps you from being part of it. That’s like saying that only Christians go for Christmas. That’s ridiculous.” But Hostin stood her ground, saying, “I don’t like it Whoopi,” to which Goldberg shot back, “Well, you’re out of your mind.”
Hostin then suggested the event should have simply been called a “Holiday Parade,” but Goldberg responded that changing the name would only rile up people who truly believe there’s a war on Christmas. “When are you going to be happy?” she hypothetically asked such people. “There is no war on Christmas. Everybody’s just trying to get it right.” Watch the entire exchange below, and tell Gossip Cop what you think.
