Whoopi Goldberg On Bill Cosby Support Backlash: “Back Off Me!” (VIDEO)
Whoopi Goldberg fought back on Wednesday’s “The View” after receiving backlash for comments she made earlier this week supporting Bill Cosby. As Gossip Cop reported on Tuesday, Goldberg said on the daytime talk show that she did not want to make “snap judgements” about the comedian, because “he has not been proven a rapist.” On Wednesday’s show, Goldberg lashed out at people who didn’t agree with her comments. See the video below.
“Here’s the deal: This is ‘The View,’ and that was my opinion,” said Goldberg, adding, “Not any of you threatening me or telling me you’re coming after me because you don’t like what I said is going to change the fact that no one has convicted him. He has not been arrested, and the bottom line is that’s the law… innocent until proven guilty.”
Goldberg then mentioned the 2006 case against the Duke lacrosse players who were wrongly accused of raping a young woman. “We raked them across the coals, burned them at the stake… and it turns out it wasn’t true,” noted Goldberg. She explained, “I think we all have a very important role to play when it comes to abuse and rape.” Goldberg said, “We all have to demand if it’s true the person has to be taken to the nth degree of the world and punished. No one here thinks rape is good. No one here thinks rapists are fun… So don’t come after me like that because I’m sick of this bull.”
Goldberg also expressed that courts are with her “because still [Cosby’s] not been taken to jail or tried or anything.” She then exclaimed, “Back off me!” Watch the video below of Whoopi Goldberg defending her comments about Bill Cosby on Wednesday’s “The View,” and tell us what you think.
