ABC NOT Trying To Get Whoopi Goldberg To Leave ‘The View,’ Despite Report
Whoopi Goldberg is not being blamed for “The View’s” lower ratings nor are ABC executives looking to have her “leave” the show, despite a new webloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this story. We’re told it’s entirely untrue, and ABC is very happy with Goldberg.
According to RadarOnline, “Executives have set their sites (sic) on getting rid of Whoopi Goldberg.” A so-called source tells the webloid, “The claws are out for Whoopi,” adding, “She’s now starting to get the blame.” The same supposed “source” further alleges ABC honchos “want Whoopi to leave, but she won’t… Whoopi is too smart and greedy to leave on her own.”
Noting how Joy Behar and Sherri Shepherd have returned to “The View,” RadarOnline has its “source” say, “By having Sherri and Joy back, they basically admitted giving Whoopi total control was a disaster.”
This is all very dramatic, but also completely inaccurate. A rep for “The View” exclusively tells Gossip Cop, “The incomparable Whoopi Goldberg is a vital part of our show. As moderator, she steers the ship, and we hope Whoopi is here for a long time to come.”
As Gossip Cop reported earlier, the 19th season of “The View” kicked off on Tuesday, with Goldberg, Behar, Raven-Symone and new co-hosts, Candace Cameron Bure, Michelle Collins, and Paula Faris.
