Whitney Houston’s 53rd Birthday: Celebrities Pay Tribute To Late Singer
Celebrities are paying tribute to Whitney Houston on what would’ve been her 53rd birthday. See stars’ tweets below.
Houston was born on August 9, 1963 to John Russell Houston, Jr. and Cissy Houston. Following in her mother’s footsteps, she pursued singing, and went on to become one of the biggest music stars of all time. Sadly, Houston’s voice was silenced when she was found dead at the Beverly Hills Hotel in 2012.
And though four years have passed since her tragic death, many celebrity fans remain as devoted to Houston as ever. That includes Missy Elliott, who was among the first to recognize Tuesday’s bittersweet occasion. The rapper shared the photo seen at right on Twitter, writing, “#WhitneyHouston U are drawn on my wall becuz there will NEVER be another you VOCALLY! Or STYLE! We love u QUEEN.”
On Instagram, Jennifer Hudson also posted an old photo of the singer, declaring, “Happy birthday to the greatest Whitney Houston!” Tika Sumpter, who co-starred in the movie Sparkle with Houston, simialrly said on Instagram,”Whitney. The greatest. Miss you.” Back on Twitter, Paula Abdul retweeted a “We’ll always love you, Whitney Houston” message, to which she added, “Truly & always.”
And Jordin Sparks, who also starred in Sparkle, tweeted, “Wishing Mama Whitney a Happy Birthday!! I miss you! Thank you so much for your kindness & love.” She also included the official music video for the movie’s song, “Celebrate,” which was filmed in the wake of the superstar’s death.
