While emphasizing that she and Houston had no personal history together, an extremely emotional Williams told viewers she’d always felt a special connection to the singer because they were “both plagued with the demon of substance abuse.”

“It’s been almost 15 years since I smoked last from a crack pipe,” said Williams, losing her composure as the studio crowd expressed support.

The host continued, talking about how she’d hoped one day to meet up with Houston when they were both “sober and older.”

Williams urged everyone to come to the aid of anyone struggling with addiction.

“I’m one of the lucky ones,” she admitted.

You’re rarely going to see more honest, emotional television than this clip.

Such a moving heartfelt moment by Wendy. The dangers of drugs and while some will say prescription drugs kill more people than anything, well that’s because other drugs aren’t so readily available.

can’t stand hypocrites that come out after someone dies. she trashes lindsay on a regular basis, where is the compassion and understand there. it’s all nice to care about someone after their gone, it’s more important to offer the same when they are alive.

  • Elampink

Wendy is the biggest hypocrite I know. She trashes Whitney in the Media and now she is Emotional…. Please Wendy get real and stop lying. Your show is based on lies, not truth. You will never be Oprah because you don’t have class, only trash.

Your behavior is like a dry drunk.

they had a long feud going from when Wendy used to trash her on her old radio show.she would ask on air for WH to come on, also brought up the gay rumors. She ALWAYS use Whitney for ratings and is now doing it, while making it all about herself. FAKE CRYING
    PHONEY!

  • MAIOUI

Wendy, you’re a brave young lady. God bless you for your tribute to
Whitney and for your courage and determination to stay on track. You are such an inspiration to those who are dealing with drug addiction. There is hope.

This is terrible. Remember and honor the woman if you want, but don’t make her death about YOU! Wendy should be ashamed of herself. She trashed and made fun of her for years and NOW she feels a connection?? Awful.

  • One thing people clearly aren’t realizing or acknowledging is that sometimes a death is what it takes for other people to open up. She could also be feeling bad about her past comments but I cannot believe the comments on here. This is EXACTLY why people don’t open up and talk about their struggles- because people judge and will think of everything horrible that person has done (oh except Chris Brown, who is quickly forgiven). People can change if they really want to and may mask their desire to do so or how they really feel about someone because they are afraid of telling the truth. It’s also apparently a social taboo to think and talk about how similar you felt to someone else/shared their same struggles. When someone dies, you feel vulnerable. You start rethinking everything. Shame on those of you for bawking at this woman for sharing her story.

Wow, i am blown. Not a real fan of wendy, but catch her every now & again but to hear her say
she was a crack head… i am done. she can’t talk about nobody and their addictions. but that’s
how them crack heads especially- are…. they are redeemed and 4get all the crap they used to do
and what they used to be. Wendy you should have kept that one on the down-low 4 sure.

She has always been open about her past drug use, so this is nothing new.

This woman needs to stop talking so badly about other celebs and learn to support them because she ( as we find out) is no better than anyone else. Usually she is WRONG about the celebs because she supports/quotes tabloids. She still needs to wake-up. She sure talks badly about some of the nicest celebs. Maybe it’s because they won’t come on her show. Well, I don’t blame them. I don’t watch her show but usually she comes on right after a show that I always watch and before I know it, I see the just beginning of her show before I have a chance to change it. She can’t wait to get into the negativity. I don’t watch shows that talk down badly about celebs because they have it hard enough with the paparazzi, tabloids and negative bloggers.

How can you get that emotional over a person that you never met?

  • Anonymous

Larry, she said she has met her once. Might wanna go back and listen to that again.

  • MyKinKStar

Wendy had met her briefly before, but she is likely upset because she understands the deep connection drugs can have over a sould, and because of a guilt for not having been able to save her. WE have never met Whitney either, or the many others in the limelight who pass to the other side, but it’s still easy to cry over the loss, knowing how much their talents will be missed. It’s normal to care Larry and to not be afraid to show it out loud.

    *sould should be SOUL

That’s why she should treat people with respect while they are still living. Maybe she is crying for feeling guilty about the things she said about her on her show. This lady doesn’t have a good tract record of being respectful to celebs.

That is so true they all did. Treated her like they do all other drug addicts she wasn’t in their circle any more. Whitney tried hard to get them to except her. But she still was on the wrong side of the field for the Rich and Famous. SHAME SHAME ON THEM ALL!

  • Msright2012

ARE U SERIOUS! PLEASE SAVE IT!!!!!
    ARE Feeling a little Guilty??

  • Tracy

Everybody has their own private demons. It has nothing to do with her up bringing. The lifestyle of the rich is the hardest life to live because everyone has expectations of you and you have no private life. Whitney is another example of what drugs, over the course of years, will do in the end. It is so sad and those who indulge and are still alive, can understand the pain or the fun! DRUGS DISTROY YOUR LIFE – DEATH PEOPLE – AND LEAVE THE LOVED ONES BEHIND MENTALLY AND EMOTIONALLY DISTROYED. We are helpless to those who are addicted. We can’t imagine what it feels like to what to get help, but its to late. If only I had 15 more minutes to get to her! If only I would have answered the phone! If only…….! God gives you the gift of voice, talent and ability to use it to help or encourage others. DON’T THROW IT BACK BY ABUSING YOUR GIFT. Don’t you know your body does not belong to you, but to God. It is precious as a diamond jewel. My final comment, leave the drugs alone, please! It only takes away life!

How dare you compare yourself to Whitney! YOUR TEARS!! is your guilt from behaving like a bully.Things in common with Whitney and about your bond with Whitney is such an insult to Whitney. How dare you! Shame on you! Whitney was never mean spirited. Wendy, you are a phoney, YES you watched the Grammys! I don’t buy it. You can’t help yourself. Wendy, you will have to find someone else to OBSESS about. Your obsession with Whitney is freaky to watch.
