WATCH: Tom Brady Defiant About His Deflated Balls In Press Conference VIDEO
Tom Brady denied personal wrongdoing in the ballooning “DeflateGate” scandal on Thursday, facing the media for a 30-minute press conference amid fallout after it was revealed that the New England Patriots used under-inflated footballs in their AFC Championship Game victory over the Indianapolis Colts. The deflated balls, against NFL rules, have become a major story as the Patriots prepare to face the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl on February 1. Watch the full video below.
“I didn’t alter the ball in any way,” declared Brady, who said that when he takes the balls from the team’s equipment personnel, he doesn’t let anyone manipulate them, stressing, “To me, those balls are perfect.” There was a lot of discussion of handling and rubbing balls, which is funny, because… well, BALLS!
Asked whether he’s a cheater, Brady replied, “I don’t believe so.” At another point, the future Hall of Famer downplayed the situation by noting, “This isn’t ISIS. No one’s dying.” Brady’s press conference didn’t seem to satisfy the press, or the thousands of fans who took to Twitter and other platforms to express their disgust with the situation.
