WATCH VIDEO: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Open Golden Globes 2015 With Bill Cosby Jokes & More In Hilarious Monologue
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler opened the Golden Globes on Sunday with a hilarious monologue in which they told jokes about George Clooney, the Sony hacking saga, Bill Cosby and much more. Check out the video below!
The very first thing Fey did was address the audience as “you bunch of despicable, spoiled, minimally talented brats,” quoting from some of the hacked Sony emails. The co-hosts continued with similar quips about how the show would be honoring “all the movies that North Korea was OK with.” Poehler joked about how North Korea’s attempt to keep The Interview from being released forced everyone in Hollywood to “pretend they wanted to see it.”
There was a joke about Emma Stone looking like one of the paintings from Big Eyes, a line about how Joaquin Phoenix wasn’t there because he thinks awards shows are “bullsh*t” (at which point Fey and Poehler waved to Phoenix, who was indeed in attendance), and Fey joking about how it took her three hours in hair and makeup on Sunday “for her role as human woman.”
One of the highlights came when Fey ran down Amal Clooney’s astonishingly impressive resume, and then pointed out that on Sunday, her husband would be receiving a lifetime achievement award. Fey and Poehler played an entertaining game of “Would You Rather?” with a bunch of male stars. They joked about some of the year’s big films, including Selma and The Theory of Everything and Gone Girl.
It all built to a laugh- and gasp-inducing series of jokes about the rape allegations against Bill Cosby. Fey and Poehler joked that Into the Woods includes a number of fairy tales, including how Sleeping Beauty “thought she was just getting coffee with Bill Cosby.” Then the co-hosts offered competing Cosby impressions in which he talks about drugging people.
