Former “Weekend Update” anchors returned to the desk for Sunday’s “SNL 40,” NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” 40th anniversary special. Watch below!

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler kicked off the segment with Jane Curtin, who was the first female “SNL” star to anchor “Weekend Update” back in 1976. The trio made fun of the nostalgia-filled event, which led to some celebrity fans coming out to recreate their favorite “Saturday Night Live” characters.

First was Emma Stone as Roseanne Roseannadanna, which quickly became a trending topic on Twitter. The character, a faux news reporter, was originally portrayed by the late Gilda Radner. Stone previously showed her love for the character via a bumper during a 2012 episode she hosted.

She was followed by Edward Norton as Stefon, but he wasn’t doing a very good job, so the real Stefon (Bill Hader) came out to show him how it’s done. The bonding led an irate Seth Meyers, Stefon’s “husband,” to run out, and it was revealed the couple now has kids.

Lastly, Melissa McCarthy appeared as Matt Foley, the atypical motivational speaker made famous by the late Chris Farley. McCarthey channeled Farley’s trademark physical comedy, throwing herself on the “Weekend Update” desk, which promptly collapsed and broke in half.

With that, Fey threw to a montage highlighting some of the best “Weekend Update” moments from the past four decades. Check out the video below!
