WATCH: David Hasselhoff Bizarre Surprise Performance On American Idol ’80s Night
David Hasselhoff made an utterly bizarre but thoroughly amazing surprise appearance on Wednesday’s “American Idol.” Watch below!
Each week, the live episodes of season 14 have been kicking off with a surprise guest hand-delivering the results envelope to host Ryan Seacrest. The special guest this time for ’80s Night was none other than Hasselhoff, with the description on screen describing the star as an “’80s legend.” Indeed, Hasselhoff was a rather big deal several decades ago. Now, not so much.
Hasselhoff went on a spiel about how “fun” the 1980s were, unbuttoning his shirt, throwing on a leather jacket, and donning a pair of shades to be “cool.” As Jennifer Lopez laughed hysterically, the actor-singer then launched into a medley of ’80s hits. Hasselhoff kicked things off with “Walking on Sunshine,” before going into “Never Gonna Give You Up,” “Do You Really Wanna Hurt Me,” “Let’s Dance,” and a finale of “I Love Rock N Roll.”
The unexpected performance had judge Harry Connick Jr. on his feet, and prompted Ryan Seacrest to quip, “I have not seen that much chest hair since I worked with Simon Cowell on this show.” And after Boy George, the night’s special guest mentor, performed with the “American Idol” Top 11, Connick exclaimed, ” We saw the Hoff sing like 617 songs and Boy George! That’s crazy!” Check out both videos below, and tell us what you think!
