WATCH: Johnny Depp Plays Vampire for Laughs in Dark Shadows Official Trailer

Johnny Depp stars as vampire Barnabas Collins in Dark Shadows, the Tim Burton movie based on the 1960s TV series of the same name.

But this is NOT your typical gothic adaptation.

As a centuries-old bloodsucker freed in the year 1972, Depp’s character is played for laughs, giving the material a very different feel.

Michelle Pfeiffer, Chloe Moretz and Helena Bonham Carter also star.

    Definitely! I am obsessed with Johnny Depp. When I first saw of Johnny Depp as Barnabus Collins I called my friends, who didn’t care. I thought it was interesting that they’re redoing an old soap opera. I am soooo happy Tim Burton is doing this film!

    I loved Dark Shadows growing up, at first I thought they are defiling the soap, but I could not help laughing out loud. Johnny and Tim are always so creative. I am there on opening weekend.

    I like Helena Bonham Carter but I have to wonder why Burton puts his wife in all his movies. Also the movie looks like its cheesy, but I would probably still watch it

    I like that witch and the vampire as well. They are both “dark creatures”. Depp can play out-of-time characters perfectly. It’ll be a lot of intresting to see, I think.

    GOD I LOVEd this movie!! Johnny Depp is AMAZING as always! and Helena oh God, I LOVE her, she’s so beautiful! Tim/Johnny BEST duo EVER! I Adore the 3 of them!! this is BRILLIANT! can’T wait to buy the DVD!!
