The Age of Adaline Trailer: Watch Blake Lively Stay The Same Age For Decades
The Age of Adaline, which just debuted its first trailer, stars Blake Lively as a woman who gets into a magical car accident that stops her from aging. Even though she was born in 1908, she looks the same in the 1950s as she does in the 21st century. As a bonus, she looks like Blake Lively.
Will heavy themes be explored? You bet! “I’d like to think you walk away from this thinking love conquers all, even immortality,” director Lee Toland Krieger explained in a recent USA Today interview. The film’s central tragedy is that Lively’s character cannot grow old with those she loves. Krieger says, “In a world consumed with youth and vanity, there’s something very fresh and beautiful about a story focusing on the beauty of growing old.
Over the years, the Adaline role had been linked to Katherine Heigl and Natalie Portman, although Krieger thinks Lively might have worked out best of all. “For someone who is 27 years old, she’s wildly sophisticated and seems like an old soul,” explains the director.
The Age of Adaline is set to open in April 2015. It also stars Harrison Ford and Ellen Burstyn, who portrays Lively’s daughter, in a bit of generation-bending. Are you intrigued? Check out the trailer below, and tell us what you think!
