The woman behind “Express Yourself” got a rude reception when she expressed herself during a concert in Romania last night.

In the middle of her concert, Madonna stopped to talk about the nation’s disadvantaged Gypsies (also known as “Roma”) who, according to some estimates, could account for as many as 2 million of Romania’s inhabitants. The singer said, “I found out that there is a lot of discrimination against gypsies in Eastern Europe and that makes me very sad, especially because we believe in acceptance . . . Everyone must be treated the same, don’t forget that!”

Instead of applause she was interrupted with loud boos and jeers by many of the 60,000 who were at the concert. Well, Gossip Cop applauds Madonna’s message of tolerance, even if it wasn’t in “Vogue” that night.
