Vince Vaughn is NOT being considered to replace Stephen Colbert as host of the “Late Show,” despite a made-up tabloid report. Gossip Cop can bust this claim. We’re told it’s “false.”

According to OK!, CBS is troubled by Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” consistently beating Colbert in the ratings, and the network is now mulling giving the late-night host the boot. A so-called “source” tells the tabloid, “Vince [Vaughn] is in the very small group of people considered should CBS decide to replace Stephen.”

The tabloid’s dubious insider then goes on to claim that following Vaughn’s recent career struggles, the actor would supposedly “love to reinvent himself.” The magazine’s alleged “source” adds, “He’s got the charisma to be a talk-show host, and he feels the job could give him a second wind in Hollywood. There’s no doubt he’d like to take a crack at it.”

Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to Vaughn, who assures us the actor is not looking to embark on a new career as a talk-show host, nor has he been in talks with CBS to replace Colbert. We also spoke to a source involved in the production of the “Late Show,” who tells us the network has no plans to search for a replacement host, and the tabloid’s rumor is simply “false.”
