VIDEO: “Wayne’s World” On SNL 40
Mike Myers and Dana Carvey reunited for a classic “Wayne’s World” sketch on Sunday’s “SNL 40,” the “Saturday Night Live” 40th anniversary special. Watch below!
Myers and Carvey reprised their iconic characters, Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar, respectively, who appeared on their signature basement set. The duo started with a little chit-chat about the anniversary before announcing that the night’s “Top 10” countdown would be, rather appropriately, all about “Saturday Night Live.”
The two then proceeded to list, one by one, the best things about “SNL,” and targeted some of their remarks squarely at Kanye West, who was sitting in the live audience. One of the comments was about the sketch comedy series being live, and that attendees must say in the “down and locked” position… especially West, prompting the rapper to pretend to get angry and try to run up before being held back by security. Another was about not allowing stage-storming, with a reference to West’s Grammy’s stunt.
There was a small mishap when one of the chart’s slides got stuck and wouldn’t remove correctly, but Myers and Carvey just rolled with it, showing once more that they are master improvisers. They also used the opportunity to throw another dig at West. The number one spot on their list belonged to “the crew,” and the camera zoomed out to show the hard-working production staffers that make “SNL” possible week in and week out.
The pair bowed down for their trademark “We’re not worthy!” move, before singing bit of the “Wanye’s World” theme song. Check out the video below!
