Ellen Responds To JC Penney Protests: “Haters Are My Motivators” (VIDEO)

Truth rating: 10

(Michael Rozman/Warner Bros.)

On Wednesday’s episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” the talk show host will respond to demands that she be fired as JC Penney’s spokeswoman because she’s gay.

Last week, the family values group OneMillionMoms.com urged the retailer to cut ties with DeGeneres, a request JC Penney has rejected.

On her show, DeGeneres also fires back, saying, “Normally I try not to pay attention to my haters – but this time I’d like to talk about it because my haters are my motivators.”

“I’m proud and happy to say that JC Penney stuck by their decision to make me their spokesperson,” she adds. “Which is great news for me because I also need some new crew socks. I’m really going to clean up with this discount.”

DeGeneres explained that while she usually doesn’t “talk about stuff like this” on her weekday show, she wanted “to thank everyone who is supporting me.”

The former sitcom star, who famously came out of the closet in 1997, also revealed some of the values she believes in.

“If you’re just watching maybe for the first time or you’re just getting to know me, I want to be clear. Here are the values I stand for: I stand for honesty, equality, kindness, compassion, treating people the way you’d want to be treated and helping those in need. To me, those are traditional values,” DeGeneres says.

Check out the video below!

For DeGeneres’ full response, tune in to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” tomorrow.

THIS is exactly the type of person who SHOULD represent any company in America. Those ignorant ‘million moms’ should be ashamed of themselves for trying to mask their bigotry and hatred under the guise of ‘American family values’. I am an American with a ‘traditional’ family and I value Ellen’s values.

Beautifully spoken. She radiates love & kindness. An absurd target for haters.

I agree with everything you said.

Haters are losers no matter what. They need a life to live. All haters are just thieves of good oxygen.

I always like how the bigots and haters are from organizations that call themselves things like “OneMillionMoms.com”, when the reality is that there are maybe a couple of hundred people involved in their group of far right nutballs….

In ’97 when she came out I was accepting myself and Ellen was a huge help. I feel like I am in debt to her because of it, and will never say a bad word about her. I think she is a great example of a lesbian in this society. Every time someone says something about gays how their morals aren’t good, I just want to say what about Ellen? Because she does great things for animals, gives to charity, promotes talented people, and the list goes on. I was relieved when her talk show became a success.

I am glad that JCPenney picked her, and then stood by their decision. I hate it when people apologize to cover their asses in show business. I also love her in the cover girl commercials. Because she isn’t feminine in the stereotypical way, but she is very beautiful. I am butch and I love that other women that are butch are being looked at in an accepting way. Because that is judged in it’s own way. I am going to marry my gf hopefully this next year and I cannot wait to be able to call her my wife and be accepted as a married couple. I have sacrificed a lot for her, as a labor of love. She is disabled, and taking care of her is a extra work in our relationship. I wouldn’t trade her for anything though. I am crazy about my gf. Ask anybody I know lol.

Their title does not reflect who they really are, but Onemillion bigots.com” does have the same warm fuzzy feeling as the truth.

I consider myself quite conservative, but I love Ellen. Unlike Rosie O, she isn’t an angry person trying to shove herself down people’s throats. MM’s is wrong here.

“haters are my motivators”..haha..isn’t this brilliant? i am going to quot Ellen sometimes, hopefully she doesn’t mind..
    one million moms?yeah, right…

Tell me what kind of person gives stuff away all the time, money and coats to schools that need them, she gives vehicles to people who either doesn’t have one or someone who really need one, and for goodness sake who is so giving enough to give out so many people the 12 days of Christmas. There is no way you can call this woman selfish, she is honest, giving, caring and she feels empathy if she didn’t she wouldn’t care about helping so many people out. The last thing I want to say is that she wants to be treated just as everyone else. I am a christian and in a lot of religions it does talk about gays, well I love Ellen to death she makes me laugh and does great things for a lot of people. There are 2 rules I always try to live by before you judge anyone. 1. Don’t sweep of anyone else’s doorstop unless you know your’s has been swept off and God has nothing to judge you for (forgiveness is always one-it’s in the Bible) 2.It is easy for us to judge others because it makes us feel superior. Anyone who knows how to cut and paste feel free to put it on one million moms. I know how to do things like cut & paste on my daughters Mac book but not my little Acer. Thanks Odyssey Raiyne West

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE GAY TO LOVE AND APPRECIATE THE GENIUSNESS, HUMOR, GENEROUSITY & WARMTH OF ELLEN. YOU GO GIRL! CRIS FROM L.A.

  • Takaacco210

This is what gives Christians a bad name. I have seen these commecials and they are wholesome, cute, funny and not offensive at all. Since when do gays have no right to make a living! If you are going to try to stop this, then you may as well protest with those baptists that picket funerals of dead serviceman and women. While you are at judging others and you think you have the right, you may as well go all the way.Why stop at Ellen. Why don’t you just nose your way into every person who makes a commecial. We are all sinners so there must be adulterers, fornicators, liars, thieves, child abusers, animal abusers and every other sin known to man. You better look into yourselves while yu are at it.

Christians, like most modern religions, have created a selective behavior for following their guiding principles. Whether we believe in Jesus or not, clearly the message was love, kindness, compassion, protecting the weakest.
If moms are frustrated with anything, it should be the perversion and violence against women in most TV “programming.”

For me, an animal rights activist and vegan, Christians should be protesting how the entire medical profession refuses to use plant based nutrition to CURE and reverse disease and how TV is used to support, promote and encourage children to consume that which makes them ill. COUNT next time you watch TV, how many times meat and dairy are shown IN the programs, never mind commercials. Our over-fed, under-nourished children are exhibiting physical and mental disorders and these Christian pro-lifers do NOTHING to stop the assault on childrens health.
