Vanessa Hudgens, Jimmy Fallon Sing “Friends” Theme Song On “Tonight Show” (VIDEO)
Hudgens was on the late-night program to promote her new NBC comedy, “Powerless.” The series will be airing on Thursdays, prompting Fallon to point out that the “some of the biggest sitcoms in the history of television” used to have that time slot. He named “Seinfeld” and “Cheers,” while Hudgens brought up “Friends.”
The two then casually did a secret handshake, with Fallon saying they’re both “family” and “friends.” With that, each picked up hidden microphones and left the interview area to do their surprise duet down by The Roots. With two stools waiting for them and some mood lighting, they crooned the classic track, and even included the hand claps.
Naturally, the performance ended with their special handshake. Interestingly, their sing-along comes just two months after “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston revealed of the cast, “No one was really a big fan of that theme song.” (No offense to The Rembrandts, we’re sure.) She did cop, though, to still watching reruns, admitting, “You get sucked into the nostalgia of it.” And there’s definitely a nostalgic vibe to Hudgens and Fallon’s take. Check out the video below!
