Vanessa Hudgens And Austin Butler Under Investigation For Illegal Rock Carving
As Gossip Cop reported, on Sunday, Hudgens posted a photo of a carving that showed her name and Butler’s in a heart (see photo below). It was unclear what the material was or where the picture was taken. But now it’s been claimed the couple illegally carved the designs into a rock formation in Arizona.
Hudgens has since posted several more photos of herself and Butler in the landscape (see above), and left no mystery as to the location by noting they were in Sedona in the caption. The famous rock formations there are within the Red Rock Ranger District, which is a part of the Coconino National Forest, meaning they are U.S. property. The area is open to the public, but it is a crime to deface any of the land.
Authorities have now launched an investigation and could file federal charges, a spokesperson for the Coconino National Forest confirms to Gossip Cop. Punishment for such convictions can be six months in prison and/or fines up to $5,000. Hudgens is already taking a beating on her Instagram page.
“Carving your name into a rock formation in a National Forest? Incredibly stupid,” wrote one person. Another said, “I think it is only common sense to not vandalize the Sedona rocks.” And a different individual told the actress, “I really hope you didn’t carve your name into the rocks. For someone who seems to be so in touch with the Earth it would be really disappointing.”
That said, one fan offered a different (and strongly-worded) opinion, remarking, “It’s just rocks shut the f*ck up, ain’t no one die so who cares.” It’s worth noting the photo in question is no longer available on Hudgens’ social media pages. Gossip Cop has reached out to a rep to see if she has been contacted by police yet.
