Valerie Harper: “I Am Not, Nor Have I Been, In A Coma” — SEE STATEMENT HERE
Valerie Harper is recovering after her health scare earlier this week and, contrary to reports, she says she was NEVER in a coma.
As Gossip Cop reported, Harper was taken to a Maine hospital on Wednesday after becoming unconscious backstage at a playhouse during a performance of Nice Work If You Can Get It. Though she regained consciousness, she was transported via ambulance, and theatergoers were told she would not be taking the stage. The venue later released a statement saying Harper went to the hospital as a “precaution.”
“Entertainment Tonight,” however, initially said the situation “didn’t look good,” and later announced, based on a source, that Harper was in a coma. But on Friday night, Harper posted a message on her verified Facebook page to set the record straight. “My dear friends and fans,” she began. “As always, thank you for your amazing support. I am happy to report I am not, nor have I been, in a coma.”
Harper, 75, went on to say of the incident, “As anyone who has taken strong medication knows, it doesn’t always agree with you, even with me as this experience proves. I am confronting these hurdles with my usual enthusiasm and love of life.” And, after signing the message “Much love, Valerie,” Harper added in a P.S., “But I must confess that the highlight of this ordeal came when I was escorted by two handsome young men and a pilot, in a medivac helicopter, as the full moon lit the sky. Talk about movie magic!!!”
As Gossip Cop has reported, Harper has been battling brain cancer since 2013. Initially given just a few months to live, Harper has defied her prognosis and her cancer has not progressed. Gossip Cop wishes the star renewed good health.
