Valerie Fairman Dead: “16 And Pregnant” Star Died After Apparent Overdose
Valerie Fairman, who starred on “16 And Pregnant” in 2010, is dead. She was 23.
The reality star was found unresponsive in a bathroom at a friend’s home in Coatesville, Pennsylvania on Wednesday. According to Fairman’s mother, the pal broke down the bathroom door when the former teen mom did not respond to calls for her to come out. It’s believed she suffered an overdose, but no cause of death has been confirmed. Toxicology tests will likely take weeks before the results are available.
Fairman leaves behind her 7-year-old daughter Nevaeh. Her pregnancy was documented on the MTV reality series, which showcased the struggles of teen pregnancy. She appeared on an episode during the show’s second season, with her storyline in part focusing on her breakup with the child’s father, Matt. It was filmed in 2009, and aired the follow year.
Fairman spent the years since struggling with drug addiction and run-ins with the law. In 2015, she was arrested for prostitution, and one report claims that she was booked for resisting arrest as recently as last week. “16 And Pregnant,” of course, spawned the popular spin-off series, “Teen Mom.” The iterations of that show brought low levels of fame to Amber Portwood, Jenelle Evans, Maci Bookout, and Farrah Abraham, among others.
MTV now says in a statement, “We are saddened by the news of Valerie Fairman’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.” Fairman is pictured above during her “16 And Pregnant” after-show interview.
